Axil Coffee Roasters

322 Burwood Rd Hawthorn

This casual dining place is tucked away in a quiet corner off Glenferrie Rd. Like the name suggests, serious coffee lover would adore this place. Coffee beans are roasted on premises with special blend on offer from week to week. No queues or wait time on most weekends - which is rather rare in Melbourne. Simple, non-complicated furnishing which makes the place look tremendously spacious. So what makes this place different? It is clearly the coffee! Any cuppa ordered here is a cuppa to keep - literally.

Savoury wise is mediocre. Corn fritters were OK, a tad soggy and not as crispy like I would expect it to be. Unlike Coin Laundry, flavors were quite blend - another pinch of salt or pepper would help. Poached eggs was a little over-cooked and bacon a a smudge too burnt. The salsa dressing is the only highlight of the dish, tying all the elements together which made it an alright dish overall.

This place gives Melbourne breaky places a fresh breathe. Ample of friendly staff to whizz one in and out relatively quickly. Takeaway cuppa is just as good to give you a kick start in the morning. Otherwise, this dining place offers a simplistic Melbourne breaky that is not too over the top - which comes in the expense of its flavor. Nevertheless, its not a bad place for coffee lovers.
