Groovy.. OK, maybe not so. But Groove Train was the name. Walked past the place many times but had never thought of dining there. I mean, it is just another casual hang out place near the cinema area. A friend of mine dragged me there for lunch one day. They did not have a large crowd considering the size of the dining are was huge. Anyway, we were seated in no time.
The day's special, Chicken Cordon Bleu. Goodness me, I have not eaten this dish for ages. So when I saw it written on a black chalkboard it did not take very long for me to decide. The serving was huge, and I could see the creamy cheese oozing out onto the bed of mixed vegetables and the sweet potato mash. The outer layer of the chicken fillet was fried to golden brown, crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. It was cooked to almost perfection. The stuffing was very tasty, filled with ham and cheese. The sweet potato mash was an absolute delight too although I do question if the combination was a little odd for such an American dish.

I enjoyed my lunch so much that I went back a few days later. This time around, I felt like having a simple seafood dish. Hence, I picked the garlic prawns with jasmine rice. The service on this occasion was extremely slow as I waited for more than 20 minutes for my main to arrive. I have to say that I was very disappointed when I took my first bite. It was cold! The nicely fragranced jasmine rice was a tad undercooked while the prawns tasted alright. Given the circumstances of the rice, it would have been more enjoyable if there was more garlic sauce. And the salad on the side? Mmm.. was not too sure about that.
Undeniably a cool place to hang out with a few mates, either for after-work drinks or a meal as there is a variety to choose from their huge menu. Similar to Switch, Groove Train is one of those casual dining places where you could never go wrong.
